Strength training without weights
66Pushups are great exercises
Lifting weights isn’t the only way to build a strong, muscular body. It certainly is the most popular way but not the only way. As a matter of fact you don’t need weights at all to build big biceps, or a chiseled physique. The way to do it is by the old fashioned exercises called calisthenics or as they are popularly known today as bodyweight exercises.
What are the basics involved in body weight exercise?
- The classic bodyweight exercise is the pushup. I’m sure that you remember this one from gym class. The reason that this exercise is so popular is because it works so many muscles, such as the chest, the shoulders, and the arms. So people even refer to it as the perfect exercise!
- The Jumping Jack is another one that you might remember from school. It’s great for getting the blood flowing and working the legs.
- The one legged squat is a great exercise to build strong legs. At first you might want to try the exercise near a wall so if you lose your balance you can catch your self.
- Side jumps don’t sound too difficult; all you do is keep your feet together and jump from one side then back again. It is a good exercise to build strong thigh muscles needed for power.
- Technically with pull-ups you do need a chin up bar, or something else to pull your self up with but it is still a great exercise for the back, shoulders and arms.
Definite advantages to body weight training
- No cost involved because there isn’t any equipment or weights to buy.
- You don’t have to buy a membership at the gym either.
- You can do the exercises almost anywhere.
