One of the most annoying and painful conditions is when the muscles and the tendons in your neck hurt. You wake up one morning and find that your neck is sore and it hurts intensely if you try to turn it. You can put heat to it but chances are it will be still hurt for a day or two. How do you prevent this from occurring in the future?


Before you determine how to fix the problem you have to realize why you have it in the first place. It all comes down to bad habits concerning your posture, how you sleep and how much or little exercise that you do. If you concentrate on these issues you will rid yourself of neck pain.

What is correct posture?

 1. Keeping your head straight up is vital to easing pressure off your neck. Any leaning of the head adds more burden to the neck and the back.

2. Slumping in a chair while you work creates stress on the back of the neck. Sit up straight and make sure your lower back is pushed all the way to the back of the chair. Your knees should be even with your hips and your feet should be flat on the floor.

3. Don’t sit for too long, always make time to get up and stretch.

4. Good fitting shoes are not only comfortable but helpful in keeping your posture upright.

5. Choosing the correct pillow that you sleep on is very important. A memory foam pillow is firm and gives great support to the head and neck.
